The rights of patients and rules we wish them to follow

Aiming to realize a treatment environment where patients can receive care with peace of mind, at Shimane Prefectural Central Hospital we have clarified "patients' rights" and made all our staff aware of these while also defining rules (responsibilities) which we wish the patients to follow.

Patients' Rights

1. The right to receive quality care

Every person has the right to receive quality treatment fairly and without discrimination.

2. The right to explanations

Patients have the right to receive sufficient explanations in easy-to-understand language and methods regarding the details of their illness and the effects/dangers of examinations and treatments.

3. The right to self-determination

Patients have the right to select/determine or refuse examinations or treatments themselves after receiving sufficient explanation and information. Furthermore, patients will not receive any disadvantages for refusal.

4. The right to seek a second opinion from another doctor

In order to be satisfied with the treatment received, patients have the right to seek a second opinion from another doctor at any stage of treatment.

5. The right to request disclosure of information

Patients have the right to receive a sufficient explanation regarding their own treatment information including the disclosure of their own medical records. Furthermore, patients have the right to designate another person to receive the information if necessary.

6. The right to have personal information kept confidential

Patients have the right to have personal information obtained about themselves during the treatment process kept confidential.

7. The right to be respected as humans

Patients have the right to have their individuality and values respected and their dignity maintained as an individual human. They also have the right to maintain privacy.

Rules we wish the patients to follow

1. The responsibility to provide information

In order to receive quality medical care, please provide medical staff with accurate information regarding your own health as much as possible.

2. The responsibility to cooperate with medical staff and participate in treatment

In order to increase the efficacy of treatment, it is important for patients to have an attitude of wanting to cure their illness together with the medical staff. Please engage proactively in treatment and examinations which are necessary to this end. Furthermore, if you have any doubts about how the treatment is proceeding, please tell the medical staff about them.

3. The responsibility to help create an appropriate hospital environment

In order that everyone can focus on treatment in an appropriate hospital environment, please follow social rules, hospital regulations, and instructions from staff. Furthermore, when billed for treatment pleas promptly pay.
Criminal behavior, nuisance, and other such behavior (abusive language, violence, threats, theft, bringing of dangerous goods, leaving the hospital without permission during hospitalization, causing trouble for other patients or staff, sexual harassment, etc.) are prohibited.
If such behaviors cause trouble for other patients or prevent medical staff from providing treatment, you may be refused treatment at this hospital. The police may also be called.

4. The responsibility to cooperate in the cultivation of medical professionals
